How to reach a deeper state during your meditation
Moving back to your breath.
Meditation helps to create calm, in the body and mind. Here are some of my tips for reaching a deeper state during your meditation. I always start by lighting a candle and setting an intention.
Doing breathwork before my meditation helps me to get into a deeper state. Take 30 deep belly breaths, breathing first into the belly, then into the lungs and quickly release. Then hold your breathe on the out breathe for as long as you can. While holding, I imagine sending a grounding cord from my feet to the earth and then bring the earth’s energy up through my legs to my chakras, starting at the root and moving up to the crown. Then I send an energetic cord up to source and bring that energy back down to the earth. By then I ‘m usually out of breath. Next, take a deep breath and hold for as long as you can. While doing this I bring my focus to the third eye in the middle of the forehead. Release the breathe. After doing 3 rounds, I feel the oxygen in my cells and a deep sense of calm. Ready to move into a deeper meditation.
Now I move my focus to scan throughout my body. This helps to keep my thoughts from wandering and relax each body part, starting at my feet. With each deep breath I say in my mind, my feet are relaxed, my calves are relaxed, my knees are relaxed etc. moving through my whole body until I reach my head. To go even deeper, I imagine I’m in a beautiful garden with flowers and butterflies and I' follow a path which leads to a gate. I open the gate and there is a rock stair case. With each step down I go deeper and deeper, becoming more relaxed, until I reach the bottom. At the bottom of the stairs I open another gate and follow the path to a beach, but you can choose what ever you feel would make you feel the most relaxed. I sit on the beach and listen to the waves. When I’m ready to come out of my meditation I follow the path back to the stairs. With each step up I start to come to my awareness. At the top of the stairs I begin to awaken my body by starting to wiggle my fingers and toes and come back. Starting my day this way, makes everything go smoothly and I am more open to receive intuitive guidance as my day unfolds.
